Walking the coast of Eilat Israel

During our 2008 trek through the middle east Lindsay and I spent 1 night in the unique city of Eilat Israel. This beach town is located at the southernmost tip of Israel on a narrow strip of land sandwiched between Jordan and Egypt. The desert scenery mixed with the blue waters of the Red Sea make it a beautiful and unique place. The atmosphere is a mix between Las Vegas and Miami as many Israeli's head down to Eliate to cut loose. Lindsay and I found an amazing hotel on the outskirts of town close to the Egyptian border. As the sun set at night we decided to walk up the single road that hugs the shoreline towards the Egyptian border. The weather was perfect and the scenery was spectacular. We started our walk at the small beach (mostly rock)across the street from our hotel and spent a few minutes just lounging in the free chairs. We then worked our way southwest along the road stopping at the occasional beach or look out to take in the scenery. There were lots of people camped out along the shore and the whole area just had a unique feel. Just before we made it to the Egyptian border we stopped at a small beach and just sat on a rock wall for what seemed like hours. We just laughed, talked and took in the sunset that was happening before our eyes. It was such a cool feeling to be watching the sunset over the red sea from a small beach town on the border of Israel and Egypt. We eventually made our way back to the hotel but only after taking numerous pics to document our experience. This simple evening stroll turned out to be an experience we will never forget.
