Acorn Street & The Beacon Hill District - Boston

Nestled in the heart of Boston is one of the most unique and beautiful neighborhoods in the country…Beacon Hill. This historic district is home to narrow tree lined streets, neighborhood shops, brick townhouses, mansions and churches. Needless to say the entire area is an urban design dream. During our 2009 trip to Boston this was one of the first places we explored and we ended up coming back numerous times. The most popular destination in this area is the famous “Cheers” bar from the t.v show. However, the highlight for me and Lindsay was a beautiful little street called "Acorn Street" tucked away in the heart of the neighborhood. This is easily the prettiest street in America. It is very narrow (wide enough for only one car) and the street is made entirely of old round cobblestones with green moss growing on them. Beautiful red brick town homes line the street each with their own flower boxes, American flag, window trimmings, etc. To top it all off there are numerous old lampposts that really finish off the look. After taking numerous pictures of this street Lindsay and I explored the rest of the neighborhood as thoroughly as we could. We eventually stumbled upon a cute little café that was built inside of an old church. One of our best memories of Boston is getting a hot drink and pastry and sitting in the chairs in front of the café just people watching. Lindsy and I are always playing the game “if you could live anywhere” and Beacon Hill in Boston would easily be in my top 3.
