Our Favorite Kabob Place in the Middle East – Aleppo Syria

While traveling through the Middle East Lindsay and I became very addicted to “Kabobs.” We had our first Kabob experience in Istanbul and for the rest of our trip we were constantly eating these incredibly tasty meals. A Kabob is essentially finely sliced meat (hot off the cooker), wrapped in flatbread with vegetables and sauces mixed in. They also generally come with a creamy sauce that is sooo very tasty. They are absolutely fantastic! I have mentioned numerous times before how friendly and hospitable the people of Syria are it was precisely this that first made us notice the cute little Kabob place on the corner in a busy section of the city of Aleppo. It was near our guesthouse and we were simply walking down the street when the owner, who was standing out front on the steps, smiled and invited us in. He sat us at a table and waited on us with a huge smile as he brought us Kabobs, Coke, etc. The hospitality and service were great but the Kabob itself was simply incredible. It is almost impossible to describe how good it was. We probably only spent 4 days in Aleppo and we hit up this Kabob place at least once a day. Each time the owner would great us with a smile and was always excited to see us. We would sit in their shop, eat our Kabobs, and always got a kick out of the rap music videos that were playing non-stop on the TV. By the time we left Aleppo we literally went out of our way to say goodbye to all of our new friends at this Kabob place. We almost got chocked up as we shook their hands and waived goodbye one last time. We will never forget the best Kabob place in the entire Middle East and the people who run it…somewhere in the heart of the busy city of Aleppo, Syria.
